Newcomp solutions is proud to announce the launch of their new tool:
Concurrent User Stress Simulator
Powered by Cognos, an IBM Company
Overview
The simulator is a Java application with a graphical interface that simulates the usage of the Cognos 8 environment by multiple users.
This simulator creates multiple parallel processes on a single Windows machine. Each process independently connects to Cognos 8, potentially with its own credentials. The process then executes a specified list of tasks such as retrieving Content Store content, retrieving a report specification, or running a report. These tasks are accomplished by each of the multiple parallel processes working in a random order. The simulation also produces detailed log files and executed task outputs.
Benefits
The benefit of this simulator is to provide stress testing of Cognos 8 environments.
Features
A graphical interface that enables up to 99 parallel processes, which could then sequentially run up to 99 real Cognos 8 tasks, randomly ordered.
Detailed logging functionality.
The simulator creates multiple parallel processes on a single Windows machine.
Architecture
The application communicates with the Cognos 8 environment via a gateway or a dispatcher URL. It is written in Java JDK 1.5 (Netbeans 5.5) using IBM Cognos 8.3 SDK Java libraries. It is downwards compatible with IBM Cognos 8 versions 8.1 and 8.2., however, for any future releases, the application needs to be re-compiled with the appropriate IBM Cognos SDK libraries.
The tool itself is composed of one main JAR file and a few additional JAR libraries.
